Gracie Chavez

Bombón Texas co-founder Gracie Chavez is an ambassador for the Texas music scene.She cut her teeth in the industry as a music editor/journalist. That led to becoming in-house PR writer for SwishaHouse, Chamillionaire and other rappers during Houston rap's rise to the world stage. She then honed her taste-making selections and DJ skills on the decks to earn top accolades nationwide and Houston’s Best DJ (2016).In 2010, she helped create Bombón, a pioneering music collective of DJ/musicians and party series based on screwmbia, Houston rap and tropical bass. The DJ/producer continues to usher in new urban tropical sounds as label head of Bombón Music. Most notably, Bombón was selected to rework the music for the Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Houston theme song.La Mera Mera has also lectured on music’s cultural influence and performed at art institutions like the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Museum of Fine Arts and Houston Symphony.This work in music led to her role as founding Music Officer for the City of Houston. In this leadership role, she established the Houston Music Advisory Board to support a thriving music industry and continues advocating for the arts in collaboration with the Texas Music Office and local arts orgs like Fresh Arts."One of my biggest sources of inspiration comes from my identity as a Latina.
